Dissemination and impact strategies

Scientific publications are just one part of stakeholder engagement. It is also important to close the loop with funding bodies and participants.

Dissemination strategies aim to spread the knowledge learned from a clinical trial across relevant networks and end users. It is essential for the uptake and use of research findings.

  • Publication: The classic academic way of presenting research findings is through posters, presentations and papers. Consider your publication planning early in the process.
  • Informing funding bodies: In lay language, inform funding bodies of your trial’s results. Funders may want to use this for news articles to show donors how outcomes are being improved as a result of their funding.
  • Informing HRECs: Inform HRECs who approved your research of your research publications.
  • Provide participants with study results: Again, in lay terms, write to the participants to inform them about the outcome of the clinical trial.
